In the west, the Bhagavad Gita is generally called the Hindu Bible. The
special features of this book is that the message is told in the midst of
a battlefield in ancient India, but unknown to them this battle is fought
every day in the lives of everybody regardless of their religious faiths.
The Bhagavad Gita is the most interpreted book in the world. It has thousands
and thousands of interpretations. However, in the very first verse, Lahiri
Mahasay brought this ancient message to the seeker of truth in his everyday

The worship of Goddess Durga, the Divine Mother, is the greatest festival
among Hindu people. In the book there is an allegorical description of a
spiritual war between the Devatas (gods) and Daityas (anti-gods). In reality,
it is the battle in everybody's life between the positive and negative forces.
So to win the inner battle, taking shelter of Divine Mother, worshipping
Her, is the means of attaining the certificate of liberation. Yoga
Sutras of Patanjali is the standard book of the Yoga discipline and is
to some extent familar to Western readers.
